Camdeboo Sunset – Golden Hour

I am a sucker for a dramatic sky. This piece was painted in studio from a reference photo taken as golden hour hit, towards the end of a plein air painting outing on the plains below the Camdeboo mountain range. I had just packed up my painting gear when I noticed the red sun through a tree on the horizon before me. I immediately snapped a few reference photographs to take back to the studio in Aberdeen.
