This original Karoo oil painting captures the dramatic, sprawling presence of the Camdeboo Mountains. Painted en plein air along the quiet Palmietfontein Road near Aberdeen, I wanted to focus on those layers of blue and earth tones that define our horizon. There’s a particular stillness out there, and I spent the morning translating that wide, open feeling onto the board.
The brushwork here is loose and immediate, capturing the interplay of mid-morning light and shadow across the ridges. It’s designed to bring the grounded, timeless energy of this Karoo vista into your home, offering a quiet moment of reflection whenever you look at it.
